Laser Heating Head

Product Overview
The Kuh Coherent Laser Heating Head is designed for continuous-wave laser thermal loading applications up to 2000 W. It uses fiber input, collimation, beam shaping, and focusing optics to deliver stable energy from the laser source to a specific area of the sample, enabling non-contact, rapid-response, and power-density-controlled localized heating. The product can function as a standalone optical terminal or integrate with lasers, chillers, infrared thermometers, motion platforms, robotic arms, test machines, and closed-loop temperature control systems to form a complete laser heating system.
Product Positioning

Product Type
How it works
Continuous laser generated by the laser source enters the heating head via a transmission fiber. The divergent beam is first collimated by a collimation assembly, then redistributed in energy through shaping or focusing optics according to process requirements to form a heated spot with specified size and energy distribution at the set working distance. During heating, laser energy is absorbed by the sample surface and converted into heat, achieving localized temperature rise, thermal retention, or periodic thermal loading.
Unlike laser cutting and welding, which prioritize peak power density and penetration depth, laser heating focuses on spot size, energy distribution, working distance, temperature uniformity, and continuous thermal stability. Its goal is not to achieve the smallest possible focal spot, but to establish a suitable and repeatable temperature field tailored to the specific material and test conditions.
Important Notice:"≤2000 W" indicates the maximum laser power compatible with the heating head, which is not equivalent to the actual power absorbed by the sample. "Up to 2000°C" represents the system's heating capacity under specific conditions; the actual temperature depends on laser power, spot size, material absorption characteristics, sample dimensions, heating duration, and cooling conditions.
Core Advantages
Transform lasers from "processing tools" into "controllable heat sources." By controlling beam collimation, shaping, and focusing, precisely manage spot size and energy distribution to concentrate heat exactly where it's needed.
≤2000 W high-power laser adapter
Designed for continuous laser thermal loading applications up to 2 kW, with power selection matched to sample size, target temperature, and heating rate.
Beam Collimation and Focusing
Control the laser beam propagation state using collimation, focusing, and necessary beam expansion optics to create a stable heating zone at the designated working distance.
Supports beam shaping
Supports circular, square, rectangular, and linear beam patterns via various optical configurations to meet uniform heating requirements.
Designed for hot-swapping, not cutting or welding
The design focuses on establishing a controllable temperature field by regulating spot size and power density, making the laser a tunable, measurable, and repeatable localized heat source.
Contactless Precision Heating
Laser energy directly targets the area of interest without heating surrounding air or fixtures, making it ideal for small areas, complex geometries, localized high temperatures, and rapid thermal cycling.
Fast power response and closed-loop temperature control
The laser's output power responds quickly, enabling temperature closed-loop control with infrared thermometers or thermocouples for rapid heating, constant temperature, programmed heating, and over-temperature protection.
Modular System Integration
Integrates with 3-axis motion platforms, robotic arms, universal testing machines, fatigue testers, vibration tables, and data acquisition systems.

Usage and Safety Instructions
- ⚠Strong visible and infrared radiation is emitted during operation. Do not look directly at the light source or focus area. Use appropriate eye and radiation protection equipment.
- ⚠The sample, heating head tip, and surrounding structures may be hot. Install heat guards and allow adequate cooldown time after power-off.
- ⚠Keep the air-cooled channel clear. Do not operate continuously if cooling is abnormal, the reflector surface is contaminated, or electrical connections are loose.
- ⚠Infrared temperature readings are affected by emissivity, angle, and spot size coverage. For highly reflective metals, combine with thermocouples or use a calibrated measurement solution.
- ⚠For adhesives, coatings, and materials that may emit volatiles, evaluate ventilation, smoke extraction, and fire safety conditions.
